The Specialised Kinesiology College Celebration 2010

by Alex Kilian

The 2010 year at the College was packed with a tremendous amount of hard work and dedication.  The journey towards various levels of qualification by the students would not have been successful without long hours and determination together with Margie’s attentive support and encouragement.  But, Successful it was! And deserving of a celebration in grand style!

planting a treeAt the end of November the Johannesburg College gathered together to spend an afternoon of special activities in acknowledgement of our achievements.  Spouses, partners and friends were invited, and it was wonderful to have those brave souls with us.  Margie had put together a wonderful variety of activities for the afternoon.

We were able to take a moment to acknowledge each student for what they personally bring to Kinesiology, we took some time to define Kinesiology with everyone of us adding to its definition, we were given an opportunity to release what no longer serves us and planted a tree as a symbol for our hopes wishes and dreams.

Brenda Loukes - first year studentBrenda Loukes, a first year student and Nia dance teacher lead us in a "dance of gratitude". The afternoon flew by with a couple of hours dedicated to expert storytelling.  Each one of us was captivated by each story and the discussions relating to life lessons learned.  Who would have thought that a room full of adults would be so captivated by Fairy Tales, and that the moral of each story could be so hotly debated?  A truly enriching experience and a rare opportunity to relax and discuss views and opinions.
At the end of the afternoon Margie congratulated each student and handed out their certificates of achievement.  Well done to everyone!  We are especially proud of our 4 students who have achieved their diplomas this year!

Many smiles, hugs and much laughter and happiness was shared.  That is after all what a celebration is.  It serves a purpose, it is the bridge between the end of one journey and the beginning of the next. It is an important part of feeling alive.  Celebration is the end of a journey because it is an acknowledgement of your accomplishment. A recognition. A stamp declaring, ♜I did it!♝  It is the beginning of the next journey because success breeds success.  As you accomplish a goal ♓ and acknowledge that you have ♓ you raise your energy. When you are in a state of being that is joyous and fulfilled and happy, you are open to more possibilities and opportunities and have more momentum to accomplish the next task.

Good luck to everyone for 2011!
